Mission and vision

Vision - Best little airport in Canada

Cooking Lake Airport will strive to be the first choice for general aviation pilots and operators in Canada.

Volunteer-owned and operated, we will achieve this objective through the provision of safe, quality services, efficient operations, responsible investment, prudent financial management, sustainable processes, and relationships with members, visitors, businesses and the surrounding community.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a safe, exceptionally friendly, and affordable general aviation experience for the benefit of the public, members, businesses, visitors, and the surrounding community.  We will honor the history of the airport and promote general aviation to the community.

Cooking Lake Airport serves as a:
  • General aviation airport for aircraft that safely operate on a 2,950 foot runway (light piston/turboprop aircraft from 2-12 seats)
  • CBSA CANPASS nternational airport
  • Flight training center - currently 2 schools on the airport
  • Aircraft maintenance base - currently 2 AMOs, and 3 AMEs on the field
  • CASARA base - search and rescue
  • Air Taxi, Air Charter
  • Aircraft tie-down parking rental (capacity - 33 stalls)
  • Seaplane base - subject to annual water level fluctuations
  • Public air terminal

Our Values

Cooking Lake Airport was founded in 1926 by some of Canada’s earliest aviation pioneers.  Our values are based on the same values that helped these early aviators to survive and thrive under incredibly harsh conditions.

Safety

We protect the safety and security of our pilots, passengers, visitors, and the public by making safety a primary consideration in all that we do.

Friendly

Volunteer owned and operated our visitors and guests feel welcome and appreciated.

Respect

We are a diverse and inclusive aviation community.  We treat each other and all our stakeholders with dignity and respect at all times.

Professional
As a Transport Canada Registered Aerodrome we operate the airport in a professional manner to ensure the highest standards of safety and reliability.
Clean

We keep our airport lands, buildings and private hangar lots clean and tidy at all times.  We are an airport, not a junk yard

Affordable

We strive to keep airport operating costs as low as possible and pass the savings along to airport users and businesses on the airport.

Honesty and Integrity

We abide by the airport rules and conduct our business with each other, our customers, and our visitors with honesty and integrity.
